Appointed to restore the exterior walls of a 1900 Brownstone in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, our stone craftsmen performed careful restoration using dental-like tools to ensure the duplication of the original design.
We restored the stone façades of a mid-1890s Richardsonian Romanesque residential home in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. Special care was taken to identify the original mortar from the interior of the joints and then sent to the laboratory to test the mix consistency. After testing, the original mix was then implemented in the project.
To carefully clean the vintage exterior building walls, a low-pressure application was used to prevent cracks and chips on the masonry. Select deteriorated areas of the façade's mortar joints were repointed and the stone’s water tables were repainted with color to match the original coating.
A turn of the century Italian Renaissance Revival home in the northwest section of Chicago was restored to its original glory days. The water tables with dentils, stone lintels, pediments, and pilasters were proven deteriorated due to years of weathering (freezing and thawing cycle). We carefully shaped and restored the design features on the exterior walls to match the originals.
