Exterior Wall: Water Intrusion Testing

US-BES performed a controlled forensic water-intrusion investigation and testing of the exterior wall/façade assembly to assist in identifying the source, pathway, and location of the reported water infiltration into the building.

The investigation was conducted in general accordance with the procedures and investigative principles set forth in ASTM E2128-20, Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls, published by ASTM International.

The investigation provided evidence-based findings regarding the locations and conditions where water intrusion was occurring within the building envelope. Controlled testing and field observations were utilized to reproduce reported leakage conditions, where possible, and to identify probable water-entry points and migration pathways.

The objective of the investigation was to provide an evidence-based evaluation of the probable source, location, and pathway of the reported water intrusion and to develop appropriate recommendations for corrective action.

Conclusions and recommendations are based upon documented field observations, controlled testing, and conditions observed during the investigation. Findings are not based upon unsupported assumptions or speculation.
